David Deo, B.A., Dipl. Heritage Conservation
David has a background in Canadian and architectural history, and is a graduate of Willowbank. He has experience in research, documentation, built form analysis and built heritage conservation. Well-versed in the history and evolution of the built form, David specializes in situating places within their broader cultural context and enjoys exploring the discourse between historic forms and ongoing use. He has worked with a diverse array of sites through his career, including numerous national historic sites and a UNESCO world heritage site. David is interested in evolving approaches to heritage conservation and planning, and has lectured on Cultural Landscape approaches at Willowbank. Visit David’s LinkedIn.
Ellen Kowalchuk, M.A., CAHP
Ellen’s background in the field of history informs her rigorous approach research, heritage planning and communications projects. She has extensive experience conducting research at archives, libraries and museums into Canada’s social and material history. Ellen enjoys working with architects, urban planners, landscape architects, graphic designers, interpretative designers and photographers to develop heritage planning and communications products. Currently, Ellen’s area of interest is uncovering the link between historical records and our understanding of the present-day environment so that it can be shaped by the conservation and adaptive reuse of historic properties.
To every project, Ellen brings over 20 years of experience in the public and private sectors, with highly-developed skills in leadership and management, oversight of complex project budgets, policy development, communications, presentations and public speaking, decisive and accountable decision-making, as well as consensus and team building.
